The episode starts with PaRappa and his friends playing basketball at their local basket ball court. While PaRappa prepares to pass the ball at Matt, Matt asks him to stop, as he thinks he smells something burning. PaRappa and friends look across the street and find that an apartment room has huge plumes of smoke coming out of it! They panic for a moment, but Matt soon takes over as the leader. He orders Katy and the girls to go call the Fire Department while the rest of the guys investigate. Chief Puddle finally makes it to the scene, but for some reason can’t muster the strength to to fight the fire… despite being a firefighter. Matt takes over the firehouse along with the rest of the guys, and they clumsily take out the fire.

PaRappa and his friends yell at Chief Puddle and ask him why he didn’t fight the fire. Puddle’s response, he didn’t have the energy. This answer makes everyone confused, so Chief Puddle continues to elaborate. Apparently, Chief Puddle met a young lady named Anne-Marie Tambourine while jogging at PaRappa Town’s park. They had a great time together and even went on some successful dates together, and recently, he’s even proposed to her! Despite their obvious love for each other though, Anne-Marie has cut all contact from him and he’s wondering if he did something wrong. While the girls are moved by Chief Puddle’s story, the guys are very disinterested and want to get back to playing basketball. The girls practically drag the guys over to Anne-Marie’s mansion.

After ringing the doorbell, they’re greeted by a robot butler named Buyer, who’s wondering who they are and why they’re there. Katy lies and says that they’re close friends of Anne-Marie’s, and want to visit her, so Buyer takes them to Anne-Marie’s room. Anne-Marie is obviously confused, which makes Buyer suspicious, but before Anne-Marie can say anything else Katy runs up to her and whispers that she’s friends with Chief Puddle. Anne-Marie tells Buyer that she suddenly recognizes these people, which satisfies Buyer enough to leave the room.

Katy asks Anne-Marie why she won’t talk to Chief Puddle anymore, with Paula even asking if she just hates him now. Anne-Marie reassures the that she still loves Chief Puddle, but hasn’t been able to meet him lately. After Anne-Marie told her father that Chief Puddle proposed to her he was very happy… until he learned that her fiancé was a firefighter. He forbade her from ever meeting Chief Puddle ever again! Anne-Marie hasn’t told Chief Puddle, because she hasn’t had a way to contact him.

Angered by Anne-Marie’s story PaRappa and his friends storm through the mansion to give Mr. Tambourine a piece of their mind! When they finally find his office, Mr. Tambourine won’t stop speaking such as “the crows call at midnight” and “the cat is in the bag”. Katy tells him to cut it out and they demand to know why he hates Chief Puddle and won’t let him meet Anne-Marie! He starts giving complete nonsense answers like “how can I let my daughter marry a man who hates vegetables?” Obviously PaRappa and his friends are very confused, but before they can ask more questions, Mr. Tambourine drops everyone down a trap door that leads to the mansion’s basement where they meet Buyer.

Buyer also wants Anne-Marie happy and the only way to do that is to get Mr. Tambourine to allow Anne-Marie to get married, so they explain why Mr. Tambourine hates firefighters. When Mr. Tambourine was young, he loved firefighters and especially loved to watch them fight fires, but he would get so excited watching them that he would always end up wetting himself, which made him very embarrassed. Ever since then he’s been trying to avoid firefighters, including Chief Puddle.

After leaving Anne-Marie’s mansion PaRappa and his friends wonder what they can do to help Mr. Tambourine accept Chief Puddle. They happen to meet Puddle on their walk, and tell him what’s going on. Puddle accepts that Mr. Tambourine hates him, and decides that maybe he should drop his relationship with Anne-Marie altogether. The teens beg Chief Puddle not to give up, but Puddle says that he respects Mr. Tambourine enough that he doesn’t want to put him in a constant state of embarrassment. Chief Puddle goes back to his fire department.

Just as he’s gone, Buyer frantically runs up to PaRappa and the gang. Apparently Anne-Marie ran away from home to the park that her and Chief Puddle first met. While Anne-Marie sits on a bench, waiting for Chief Puddle, the engagement ring Puddle gave her catches the sunlight and starts burning the grass around her.

PaRappa and friends make it to Puddle’s fire department, and explain to him that Anne-Marie’s missing. Puddle reiterates that he doesn’t want to get involved with again, and suddenly he sees his team rushing over to the firetrucks. Apparently a fire has started in PaRappa Town’s park and it’s going out of control! Puddle worries that Anne-Marie might be caught in that fire and rushes to his helicopter with PaRappa and his friends following him. Of course, Chief Puddle wants them to get out, but they explain that they don’t have time for this.

Over at the park, the fires getting worse and worse. The firefighters worry that they might have to set off explosions to beat the fire, and what’s worse, Anne-Marie is caught in the middle of it and can’t escape! Chief Puddle surveys the land to try to find Anne-Marie and finds her thanks to the shine of the engagement ring he gave her. He puts PaRappa in charge of the helicopter while Puddle jumps down to save Anne-Marie.

The firefighters report to Puddle’s helicopter that they’re planning on using explosives soon, as the fire’s becoming to big and unpredictable. PaRappa and his friends panic while PaRappa daydreams about being an ace flyer. On the horizon they see a dam filled with water, and PaRappa plans on crashing the helicopter into the dam, releasing the water, and fighting the fire. Everyone else now begins panicking over the fact that they can’t pay for a destroyed helicopter! Everyone jumps out of the helicopter, just as it hits the dam and just as expected, the water extinguishes the fire.

PaRappa and friends investigate the remains of the park to try to find Puddle and Anne-Marie, but sadly, they assume he’s dead. Mr. Tambourine shows up to find his daughter and they all cry, believing that they’re both dead. However, on the horizon, Chief Puddle is revealed carrying Anne-Marie to safety! Cut to the future and Chief Puddle and Anne-Marie finally get married. PaRappa asks Mr. Tambourine why he finally allowed the two to get married, and he responds that, for the love of his daughter, he’s willing to go down in history as the Tambourine that wets his pants, but surprisingly enough, he hasn’t wet himself in front of Chief Puddle and believes that he might be cured. Everyone continues to celebrate the wedding!
