Rave it to Rammy!

Rammy (ウラミー Uramī) Rammy is a freelance guitarist and PaRappa and Lammy's opponent in the VS mode of Um Jammer Lammy, only appearing in the single player game in the Stage 6 end cutscene.

Her Japanese name is a pun on the word ura (裏) which means "reversed side" or "wrong side", since she is the polar opposite of Lammy. An additional pun could be urami (怨み), meaning "grudge" or "resentment."

Description

Um Jammer Lammy manual; Meet The Band

Rammy, Guitar
Rammy plays as a free studio musician. She wants to be in a band, but is paranoid and tends to be tardy, so she is easily fired. But, Rammy has a pretty good technique that may take her to stardom.

Story

After a series of mishaps caused her to be late for Yoko's concert, she finds that Lammy had taken her spot instead. Rammy then demands to see who's the better guitarist (which leads into the game's VS. modes), before Lammy returns back to PaRappa Town using the Supersonic Transportation Device, leaving Rammy frustrated.

Following the events of Stage 6, Rammy can be seen at the Milkcan concert after winning Stage 7. Rammy then can be played against in VS. mode throughout the previous stages, where both her and Lammy compete to see who's the better guitarist.

Personality & Habits

Rammy can come off as ill-tempered and rude, often competitive and cocky in VS mode whenever she wins, whilst making excuses whenever she loses, with Stage 5's: "You were no match for me!" and "My guitar was broken!" being examples of both sides respectively. Despite that, she's willing to be more cooperative and friendly, working and playing alongside Yoko, as well as complimenting both her and Lammy in Co-Op, with phrases such as: “We both jammed!” and, “We did pretty good!” being primary examples.

Design

Lammy&RammyGuitar

Lammy and Rammy's guitars side by side for reference.

Her appearance is similar to Lammy's, with the only exceptions being that she has a monochromatic palette and plays guitar right-handed (contrasting Lammy, who plays left-handed). Additionally, her shirt features a lamb with bones forming an X along the bottom, different from Lammy's Milkcan head.

Rammy's guitar in-game is similar to Lammy's, being a 6 string electric guitar featuring 3 pickups, a whammy bar, and 3 volume/tone controllers. The only notable difference between their guitars is the color, where just like Rammy herself, the guitar is colored monochromatically.

Trivia

  • On VS. Mode on the last stage, Rammy's losing line is different in the U.S. version. She says "Okay, you win. I guess I'll just go home now." instead of saying "Okay, you win. I guess I'll just go back to Hell now."
  • In the Leave it to Lammy! LINE sticker set, Rammy is seen with a V shaped guitar, different to the one she uses in-game
  • In the Um Jammer Lammy manual, it's said that Rammy is a "free studio musician", and that she "wants to be in a band, but is paranoid and tends to be tardy, so she is easily fired."
