Stage Composition[]

Instructor Mooselini's Rap is in G Major at 214 BPM

Chapter[]

Plot[]

You guys sit in the back

The chapter begins with PaRappa, PJ, Sunny, and Katy eating ice cream and donuts at Phat Donut, a local hangout and donut shop. Sunny asks the others what they would like to do. PaRappa suggests they go to the beach, and they all agree until Katy mentions their lack of transportation. PJ, between the lickings of his ice cream, also mentions the fact that they need a license too, as none of them can drive.

Just then, a long, red limo known as the Super Stretched Limo 900 pulls up in front of Phat Donut. PaRappa and PJ discuss the fine details, with vinyl cheetah-textured seats and a maximum speed of over 463, 243. The limo stops in front of them, and out of it steps none other than Joe Chin, asking them about how impressive is his new car, to which PaRappa and PJ respond positively. Joe Chin tells them that it's a convertible, and brags about how it is capable of leaping tall buildings in a single bound. He then asks the girls if they'd like to ride with him to the beach. They accept, but only if PaRappa and PJ can go too, to which Joe Chin agrees, letting the girls sit up front with him, but leaving the boys to sit in the back, behind a pool, and the exhaust pipes.

Joe Chin backs up and crashes into Phat Donut, causing the owner to fly out of the booth and all of the donuts to spill out into the back of the car. PJ starts eating the donuts, both dizzy from the impact. Joe Chin quickly drives away, the exhaust pipes emitting filthy smoke clouds in the guys' faces. PaRappa then pictures himself driving his own car, flight-capable with wings, with Sunny sitting next to him. He decides then to muster up the enthusiasm to get a license so that he can impress Sunny.

He goes to U-Drive-U to get his license, in which Instructor Mooselini tells him that PaRappa can pass if he performs well in her rap.

After the song, if beaten in Good mode, PaRappa goes to get his license photo taken, however a falling piece of confetti lands on his nose, causing him to sneeze at the last second, which spoils his license photo. However, if beaten in Cool mode, PaRappa does not spoil his license photo.

The chapter starts with PaRappa, PJ, Sunny, and Katy Eating ice cream at Phat Donut.

Sunny It's a great day today! So what do you guys wanna do?

PaRappa Let's go down to the beach!

PJ OK, sounds cool!

Katy Don't we need a car to get anywhere?

PJ Yeah, a license too.

A long, red limo drives down the road.

PaRappa Whoah!! Check that out!! That's the new Super Stretched Limo 900!

PJ Yeah! The maximum speed is tuned up to 463,243...

PJ starts mumbling incoherently due to his mouth being full.

PaRappa And vinyl panther seats, too!

The limo stops in front of them, and Joe Chin steps out.

Joe Chin Hi! How do you like my new car, guys?

PJ Man, it's phat!

PaRappa The color is awesome, too!

Joe Chin Not only that, it's a convertible! And it is capable of leaping tall buildings in a single bound! Would you girls like to go to the beach with me?

Sunny Sure. Only if all of us can go.

Joe Chin Of course, of course! Come on girls, sit up front with me. You guys can sit in the back.

The camera pans over to the back seats, reavealing that they are placed behind a pool, but also behind the exhaust pipes.

Joe Chin Everybody hold on!

Joe Chin starts up the car and backs it into Phat Donut. The donuts spill out into the back seats, as PJ starts eating them, both him and PaRappa dizzy from the impact. Joe Chin quickly drives off, as the exhaust pipes emit fumes of gas in the boys' faces. PaRappa pictures himself riding in a flying car, with Sunny sitting next to him.

PaRappa Man.... if I only had a car and a license...... I could take Sunny anywhere!

PaRappa sighs.

PaRappa ....how can I do that.....? Yeah! I know! I gotta BELIEVE!!

It cuts to U-Drive-U, where Instructor Mooselini stands outside of the yellow car PaRappa will be learning to drive with.

Instructor Mooselini You wanna learn how to drive, huh? It's harder than you think it is. If you think you can handle it, try this rap!

The song takes place in a yellow car with a white triangular "U-Drive-U" sign in red text on top. A few seconds into the song, the hood flies off, revealing the steering wheels and the blue and red gas and brake pedals. Multiple signs can be seen on the sides of the road, such as a green sign with the text "REST AREA 5 MILES" on it with a diamond-shaped "MERGE" sign below it, a white "NO LEFT TURN 8:30AM 2:10PM" sign in red text, a white no U turn sign with a black arrow pointing to the right below it, a white "NO TURN" sign in red text with a black "KEEP RIGHT" sign below it in white text, a black arrow with a green "EXIT 3 NORTH" sign below it, a yellow right turn sign, and the same sign with a triangular "CHILDREN" sign below it. On Bad mode, all of these signs are replaced with a "SLIPPERY ROAD" sign and a "DETOUR" sign on the top, and on Awful mode, they are replaced with red "DANGER" signs.

In-Level Dialogue[]

Instructor Mooselini Hey, hey, hey, you sure know how to drive, man, I have nothing else to teach you no more!

The roof of the car flies off, and Instructor Mooselini flies off with it due to her antlers getting stuck on it.

Instructor Mooselini Aah! AAH! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

The roof of the car flies off, and Instructor Mooselini flies off with it due to her antlers getting stuck on it.

Instructor Mooselini Aah! AAH! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

Instructor Mooselini flies back into the car with the car roof.

Instructor Mooselini I knew you were gonna screw up!

End of Level Dialogue[]

Instructor Mooselini That's because you just got your license!

PaRappa Woohooo!! Yes!!

Instructor Mooselini Yeah! You, my boy, are the best!

PaRappa Woah, really? I wanna thank you, teacher!..... And the door.

Instructor Mooselini You gotta do it again!

PaRappa What?

Instructor Mooselini That's because you gotta do it again!

PaRappa What?

Mode Differences[]

Bad: The instrumental will change from G major to E minor, making it sound more depressing and sad, followed by an additional descending piano tune. The camera will change into a first-person view to show how badly PaRappa is swerving the car left and right, and all of the signs that appear next to the road will be replaced into a "SLIPPERY ROAD" sign, followed by a "DETOUR" sign on top.

Awful: The instrumental will change into a more repetitive version of the Bad loop, making it sound like Halloween. PaRappa is still swerving the car left and right, the camera is still first-person view, and the car starts shaking as if the hydraulics are failing. All of the signs that appear next to the road will be replaced into red "DANGER" signs.

Trivia[]

  • When the cutscene introducing Instructor Mooselini, with every extreme close-up of face, her nostrils flare.
  • If the wrong button is pressed, PaRappa will pull the steering wheel off.
  • In PaRappa the Rapper 2, during the first chapter, the U-Drive-U building can be seen in the background when PaRappa and PJ are walking down the road.
  • When Instructor Mooselini closes the car door, a faint yet satisfied "Hmph!" can be heard from her before resuming her rap.
    • However, in Cool mode, it's replaced by the same scream she makes in the Cool entrance.
  • In the parts where PaRappa must turn the car, if the opposite shoulder button is pressed in place of the intended button, the car will spin out and go straight in the intersection.
    • Despite this mistake, it doesn't affect the ending.
  • If the up button of the D-pad is pressed, you can find Prince Fleasawallow on the side of the road.
  • In "Parappa On Screen", a different audio of failing Cool mode can be found, similar to Instructor Moosesha.[1]
  • The original Bad/Awful ending had Instructor Mooselini say "That's because you gotta do it again!" This was likely changed because the player could fail before the last line.
  • The song samples the 1971 song "Turtles Have Short Legs" by CAN.
  • In BAD mode, the tuning of the instrumental will change from G major to E minor followed by the Halloween piano shuffle. But during the AWFUL mode, it is a repetitive loop of the Halloween piano shuffle from BAD mode.
